2009-2010 Resolutions

RESOLUTIONS ADOPTED AT THE 74th ANNUAL NATIONAL CONVENTION
Las Vegas, Nevada - AUGUST 16-21, 2009

The delegates assembled at the 74th Annual National Convention unanimously approved the following Resolutions:

1 - EXAMINING OUR ROOTS

We Resolve to have our National Historian prepare and present a detailed report to the National Convention upon the 75th Anniversary of our founding in 2010. The report will recount the historical actions taken, and speeches given by our founders prior to the founding, and first 25 year history of the Catholic War Veterans. Upon completion, a copy of the report will be sent to all echelons for their use in reviving a true understanding and appreciation for our roots within all members.

2 - COMBATING AMERICAN SOCIALISM AND COMMUNISM

We Resolve to focus public attention on the current rise and adoption by our government of elements of the political philosophies of Marxist Socialism and Communism. We further resolve to proactively combat these anti-Catholic and anti-American philosophies wherever they are found developing within our nation.

3 - ADOPTION OF CURRENT BUSINESS TECHNOLOGIES

We Resolve to actively promote and fund the adoption and use of current computer technologies by all Officers and Employees of our organization in order to increase the efficiency of our business practices and communications across all echelons.

4 - CREATION OF A NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP MARKETING CAMPAIGN

We Resolve to have our National Department develop and fund a National Membership Drive and associated Marketing Campaign targeting current active duty, reserve, and National Guard service members.

5 - PROMOTION OF GREATER TEAMWORK WITH THE MILITARY ARCHDIOCESE

We Resolve to proactively work with our Bishop Protector and the Archdiocese for the Military Services, U.S.A. to develop and fund a mutually agreed upon marketing strategy of both organizations to our active duty, reserve, and National Guard service members.

6 - SUPPORT FOR THE GLOBAL WAR ON TERRORISM

The Catholic War Veterans of the United States and other responsible authorities have warned of the increasing threat of terrorism to Americans and our interests; and terrorist attacks against our citizens and facilities, both at home and abroad, aided and abetted by "outlaw countries," remain a threat to our national security; and the U.S., its citizens and allies continue to be targets for international terrorism as witnessed by the bombings in London and Madrid, the discovery of Al-Qaeda terrorist cells on American soil and the capture of suspected terrorists trying to cross U.S. borders; and it is clear that all Americans and our way of life are targets of a number of international terrorist organizations and religious zealots who have announced a declaration of war against America; and it is important to the security of the American people that the U.S. take decisive action against terrorists by staying on the offensive and taking the fight to the enemy in order to prevent and/or mitigate attacks within our borders; let us go on record continuing to support decisive action in the war on terrorism by staying on the offensive against international terrorist organizations and groups, as well as rogue or outlaw states guilty of inciting, harboring or aiding and abetting terrorists; and that we unequivocally support the men and women of our armed forces who carry out the orders to prosecute the war on terrorism around the world and across the nation.

7 - POW / MIA PUBLIC AWARENESS

It is imperative that the American people never forget the U.S. military service members that are still unaccounted for from all wars and conflicts; and the Catholic War Veterans is responsible to keep its subordinate units and membership informed on current POW/MIA issue developments; and it is our duty to keep the POW/MIA issue in the forefront of the public conscience; let us continue to provide routine distribution to the field of pertinent, credible and responsible information and reports; and that each Department, Chapter and Post is encouraged to exercise maximum effort to maintain the vitality and thrust of the POW/MIA program and appoint an interested member to act as the POW/MIA project officer or committee chairman; and that we support the annual National POW/MIA Recognition Day and encourage the display and daily flying of the POW/MIA flag.

8 - MEDICAL TREATMENT

There have been many news reports of poor medical treatment provided to our servicemen and women who were injured while in the service of our nation; and that our wounded service personnel should receive the highest degree of medical attention at the expense of the taxpayer. Let us petition the President, his cabinet and our Congress to fully fund the very best medical care and attention for our wounded service people.

NOW BE IT RESOLVED, that The Catholic War Veterans of the United States of America, Inc., at its Annual Convention assembled in Las Vegas, Nevada in August 2009, wholeheartedly support the above approved Resolutions.
